Match Report
Wells Cathedral School Boys-U13A vs  The Blue School
On: Thursday, 26 Sep 2019
Venue: at Home

On Thursday 26th September, a titanic clash between Wells Cathedral School U13 playing their third game of the season and the Blue School Wells U13 in their first game (many players of which, have been together for years in club rugby) began on Ceders Field, the first time the senior school has played there since 1995..

Wells began with strong pressure, spending time pushing the Blue School deep into their half, working well as a team. Both sides were evenly matched however and possession passed back and forth. It was not long before this hard work by both sides paid off and tries began to come thick and fast. The first half ending with both teams having scored 2 tries each.

The second half began with new life and dynamism, both sides determined to come away with a victory. Tries began now came in quickly, with Milan Messemer delivering shades of Jonah Lomu, running hard and fast through the Blue defence and bring his total to 3 scored and Wells to 25.

The end of the second half turned into a hard fought battle, as the Blue School came out fighting and Wells took their foot off the gas. Hard work and heavy tackling through the game began to show as the tired Wells team dug deep and held their opponents to 20 points, even looking to score a final try, being denied only by the referees' final whistle.

Overall, an excellent performance from the boys, who are now improving and beginning to show their strength as a team.

Special mentions to the example set by Captain Buck Williams and Vice-Captain Ralph Warner who both led the team well (we are also very glad the injury Ralph suffered proved to be only temporary). Man of the Match Milan "Lomu" Messemer for his tries, excellent running and strong tackling.
